Tarrant Keyneston is a small parish on the main Blandford to Wimborne road. As with most of the Tarrant villages, the first part of its name is from the small river which flows though the village and the second part of the name is from the local lord of the manor. In this case it comes from De Cahaigne, the name later became Anglicised to Kaynes. This family lived here in the C12th.
