MISSION AND PASTORAL MEASURE 2011

BENEFICES OF CHASE AND CRANBORNE WITH BOVERIDGE, EDMONDSHAM WIMBORNE ST GILES AND WOODLANDS

The Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Committee (“the Committee”) is considering making recommendations to the Bishop under the Mission and Pastoral Measure 2011 for draft proposals to be circulated which will have the effect of transferring the parishes of Gussage All Saints and Gussage St Michael out of the benefice of Chase and into the benefice of Cranborne with Boveridge, Edmondsham Wimborne St Giles and Woodlands

Before deciding on its recommendations to the Bishop, the Committee is required to ascertain the views of all the interested parties. The Committee will then consider these views before coming to a final decision on what, if any, recommendations it should make to the Bishop.

An incumbent or priest in charge who is affected by these proposals has the right under the Measure to meet representatives of the Committee to present his or her views, and should notify the Pastoral Secretary in this case.   A Parochial Church Council or its appointed representative may also request to meet the Committee's representatives to discuss its views.  In these draft proposals the benefices are in different deaneries, so both rural deans and lay chairmen will be sent this letter.   They should, however, note that the deanery synod is not itself an interested party but they are encouraged to keep the synod, the synod's standing committee or any ad hoc deanery pastoral committee informed about the progress of the proposals.

I should be grateful if views, together with any requests for a meeting with the Committee or its representatives, could be forwarded to me in writing as soon as possible and no later than by 5.00pm on Monday 21st September 2020.  I have allowed an extended period for this consultation in view of the Covid-19 situation.  If you have any difficulty meeting this deadline, or discussing this matter as a PCC, please would you let me know immediately and I will take necessary steps to ensure you are given enough time to allow you to do this.  I am always happy to assist in whatever way I can and to answer any questions you may have regarding these draft proposals.  Further information can also be obtained from the Archdeacon who can be contacted on the following e mail address:  This email address is being protected from spambots. Yours sincerely
